As you might have noticed, this blog has been lacking in regular updates over the last few months. I’m sorry for that. I’ll try and sum them up in this blog post. First: the Toro Bar project came to a happy ending with the last shot wrapped at the end of October. Final images were delivered to the client in November and two of them displayed as a small ad campaign in local cinemas here in Zurich during November and December. The rest were used for print and online advertising, and social media campaigns. Again big thanks to all the people making this project possible.
2102 started with personal non-photography projects that had to be done, time abroad (that’s why I missed my own exhibition of the Toro Bar photographs) and smaller commercial projects. Sadly a location wedding in Cairo I was booked for was rescheduled; the current political instability made it impossible to realize the planned shots. After careful consideration the bridal couple and I decided it would be best to focus on a simple wedding assignment without the glamorous couple shoots in the dunes and the old town we had initially planned. And for that a local photographer clearly would be the better and more convenient choice. Why do I mention this: I want to thank the guys over at Profoto Sweden for their amazing customer support! As there is no officially possible way of renting Profoto equipment in Cairo they kindly offered to prepare everything I needed in Dubai and fly it to Cairo as soon as I asked them too. In addition they hooked me up with local photographers and assistants. Even if I did not make use of it in the end, I’m glad to know that I’m backed up by some good old customer support.
So what are my future plans? This year I’ll try to focus on headshot portraits for actors, business people and private customers. Besides that a major amount of time and effort will be put into new portfolio work, of which you’ll hopefully see more within the next three months. Until then follow me on twitter to get the latest news and updates on my work and all the fun things that come with it.
Thanks for reading this, you’re awesome!

After having assisted the Swiss based photographer Oliver Oettli for the first half of 2011 I resumed business with smaller assignments this summer. Around two months ago a friend of mine and I started developing ideas for an advertising campaign for a bar in Zurich called Toro Bar. The idea consisted of seven scenes showing services the bar offers. So we started planning the seven images including a lounge shot, a karaoke shot and a birthday party shot.
The small and simple idea soon started to grow and ended in being a big project with a dozen people on the set of a regular shoot. Having now wrapped five of the seven shoots with professional and newcomer models I'm very happy with the first results. It was pure fun having all the nice people and especially my friend Jesca (make-up artist) and Michel Zollinger (kindly assisted me on several of the shoots) on the set.
This weekend we’re going to shoot the last two scenes. Final images will be ready within the next three weeks. The images itself will be used on the Toro Bar’s website and social media channels, maybe on some print campaign and cinema advertising in Zurich’s cinemas. So stay tuned…

As of now my new address is Mühlackerstrasse 91, 8046 Zürich. Currently I'm shooting at Baselworld 2011 Watch and Jewellery Show until Friday, so unpacking my stuff has to wait! If you're in Basel or near my new home text or call me for coffee.

While most of my trip was dedicated to deep-water soloing I spent one afternoon shooting Erik under the sun of Mallorca. After some initial location scouting we quickly found an olive grove with an old barn nearby. Perfect for what I had in mind. But as a nearby hill was in the middle of the suns trajectory ideal light conditions (sunset) would only last a short time. So schedule was tight, but thanks to Tom's (who kindly assisted me) and Erik's awesome performance we finished in no time. Thanks guys!

Photographed an assignment with presenter and actress Sandji Lila today in Zug, Switzerland. Luckily in July the water is warm enough to swim...
